2 teaspoons baking powder
8oz caster/superfine sugar
8oz black treacle
6oz butter
1/4 pint milk
1 egg
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Warm the treacle, butter and milk together until melted.
- Stir into the dry ingredients, and beat in the egg.
- Put into a greased tin.
- Bake at 170oC/325oF/gas mark 3 for 1 hour.

How to make Yorkshire Moggie cake:
Sometimes spelt "Moggy", this cake comes from Yorkshire and contains delicious black treacle which adds a liquorice-like flavour.Ingredients
1lb plain/all purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powder
