1 level teaspoon cinnamon
8 tablespoons dripping
2 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons brown sugar
1 egg
just under 1/2 cup currants
just under 1/2 cup sultanas
1 tablespoon mix peel
4 tablespoons milk
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Fold in the fruit and peel.
- Add the flour and milk to make a dropping consistency.
- Place into greased cake tin about 7".
- Bake in oven at 180 degrees centigrade (see temperature conversions) for about 1 - 1 1/4 hours or until cake is set and firm to touch.

hi i am going back 50 years,when i was in swindon,i bought a lardy cake i was told that the farm made them,they were fantastic,my cousin sent me one down to plymouth every two weeks,they were very greasy also they had a very thin coating of toffee on the top,would you possibly no the recipe,it would be fantastic if you do,thanking you very much malky.
