How to make Lancashire Cheese Savoury:
Basically this is just traditional cheese on toast with the tasty addition of bacon. Any cheese that melts nicely can be used but to keep in the spirit of the dish try and use a pale, crumbly Lancashire cheese.

Lancashire Cheese Savoury
4 slices bread
4 rashers bacon, finely chopped after rinds have been removed
8oz crumbled Lancashire cheese
1 small onion, peeled and chopped very small
1 teaspoon oil for frying
(see measure conversions for more information)

- Fry the bacon and onions together in the oil until the onion is soft and the bacon cooked.
- Remove from heat.
- Add the cheese and mix together well until all the ingredients are combined.
- Toast the bread on one side.
- Spread the other side with the cheese, onion and bacon mixture.
- Put under the grill and cook until golden brown.
