How to make Grantham gingerbread (white):
These gingerbreads from Grantham (Margaret Thatcher's birthplace) are said to be white because they do not contain black treacle (molasses) and thus do not take on the traditional gingerbread color.



Ingredients

2 cups flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon ground ginger
a little baking powder
8 tablespoons butter
1 egg
(see measure conversions for more information)

Method

- Cream butter and sugar, beat in egg yolk, and add flour, baking powder and ginger.
- Whip the egg white and fold into the mixture.
- Bake on greased paper in a moderate oven 150od/c325of/gas mark5 for 30 - 40 minutes, but keep pale in color.

The PROBLEM is that I have too much stuff in my kitchen. But, I now have gotten a small china hutch from my MIL (She moved).

I am not using it for china.

This morning I moved all of my spices to the top area: I had NO! idea I had that many spices! I lined them up in the front so I could see those tiny containers, and I have 4 rows of them. No more fishing in the cupboard for the tiny things!!!!!!!!!
