Starter - Chilli Pumpkin Pate

Dessert - Witches' Apple Spice Cake
pinch salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 lb baking apples peeled, cored and very finely sliced
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter, cut up into small pieces
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Rub in the butter.
- Add the sugar and apples.
- Add the eggs and mix to a thick batter.
- Stir in the milk and continue to mix until smooth.
- Pour into a well-greased 8 inch baking tin.
- Sprinkle with the 3 tablespoonfuls of granulated sugar and the 1 tablespoonful of butter pieces.
- Bake at 190 degrees C. for 45 minutes.
- Lower the heat to 160 degrees C. and cook for a further 30 minutes.
- Serve with custard or clotted cream.

How to make witches' apple spice cake:
If bobbing for apples sounds a bit too wet here's another way of enjoying those favourite autumn fruits. A spicy, moist pudding full of apples and interesting flavours. Serve it with cream and watch out for the witches!
Ingredients
2 cups plain/all purpose flour sieved with 2 teaspoons baking sodapinch salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 lb baking apples peeled, cored and very finely sliced

1/2 cup milk
for topping:
3 tablespoons granulated sugar1 tablespoon butter, cut up into small pieces
(see measure conversions for more information)

- Add the sugar and apples.
- Add the eggs and mix to a thick batter.
- Stir in the milk and continue to mix until smooth.
