How to make wholemeal scones:
Made with half wholemeal and half ordinary flour, these scones are wholesome and contain more fiber than other scones made just with plain flour. They still taste good with butter, jam and cream!

2 cups wholemeal flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups plain white flour
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sultanas
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 pint milk
1 egg, beaten
(see measure conversions for more information)

- Mix the two flours together and add the salt and baking powder.
- Rub the butter in lightly.
- Add the sugar and sultanas and mix to a soft dough with the milk.
- Turn onto a floured board and roll out to half inch thickness.
- Cut into rounds using a shaped cutter or teacup.
- Place on a greased baking tray and brush over with a little beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes at 210 degrees centigrade.
- Cool on rack and eat with butter, cream and your favourite jam/jelly!
