How to make Virginia corn cake:
A traditional American corn bread cake.


1 cup corn meal
1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted butter

- Mix and sift the corn meal, flour, baking powder and salt.
- Beat the egg and add the sugar to it.
- Combine the corn meal mixture with the egg mixture.
- Add the milk and butter.
- Pour into a buttered cake tin and bake in a hot oven for 20 minutes.
