1 cup figs, finely chopped
2 1/2 cups stale bread crumbs
3/4 cup milk
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/2 cup shelled walnuts
1/2 cup raisins, deseeded and cut into pieces
2 tablespoons flour
4 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder

- Add the figs.
- Soak the breadcrumbs in the milk.
- Add the eggs, sugar, salt and spices to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Combine the two mixtures and add the walnuts.
- Dredge the raisins in flour and add to the mixture.
- Sprinkle the baking powder over the mixture and beat well.
- Turn into a buttered basin and steam for 3 hours.

Ingredients
