How to make Thanksgiving pudding:
A pudding traditionally served at Thanksgiving. Crushed crackers here are used instead of bread crumbs or flour and the main flavoring is nutmeg.

Ingredients

4 cups scalded milk
1 1/4 cups rolled crackers
1 cup sugar
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup melted butter
half a grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups raisins
(see measure conversions for more information)

Method

- Pour the milk over the crackers and allow to stand until cold.
- Add the sugar, eggs, nutmeg, salt and butter.
- Boil the raisins in water until just soft.
- Remove stones if necessary.
- Add the raisins to the cracker mixture.
- Pour into a buttered basin and bake slowly for 2 1/2 hours.
- Stir after the first half hour to prevent the raisins from sinking.

I can now take the phone books out of my overflowing 2 shelves I keep my cookbooks in: then...
