1/2 cup suet
1/2 cup white breadcrumbs
water to mix
1/4 cup golden syrup
clotted cream to serve
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface to an oblong of about 15 inches by 12 inches.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the dough leaving a margin of about 1 inch all around the oblong.
- Spoon the syrup over the breadcrumbs.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and then roll the dough up lengthways.
- Wrap the roly poly in a double layer of greaseproof paper and steam for 1 1/2 hours.
- Serve with clotted cream.
