1 onion peeled and diced
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 pint dry white wine
1 tablespoon vinegar
pinch of mustard powder
pinch of sugar
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed pan.
- Soften the onion in the butter and add the wine and vinegar.
- Boil carefully until the mixture has reduced to a thick sauce.
- Stir this into the brown sauce, adding the mustard powder and sugar.
