6 tablespoons cooking fat
4 tablespoons butter
pinch of salt
3 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons brown sugar
just under 3/4 cup black treacle
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6oz shelled pecan nuts
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Add enough cold water to make a dough.
- Use this to line an 8-inch tin.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light in colour and fluffy in texture.
- Add the treacle, beaten eggs and vanilla and mix well.
- Add the pecans.
- Pour the mixture into the pie case and bake in a hot oven for 10 minutes.
- Lower heat to moderate and bake for a further 30 minutes.
- Serve hot or cold with clotted cream if liked.

How to make pecan pie:
