1 1/2 cups caster/superfine sugar
a little butter
rice paper
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Fry them in a little butter until golden brown.
- Blend the almonds in an electric blender with half of the sugar.
- Add the rest of the sugar slowly, blending as you go.
- Cook gently in a heavy saucepan stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Line a shallow tin or tray with rice paper.
- Pour the nougat mixture into the rice paper lined tin or tray.
- Allow to set and cut into small slices.

There are two types of nougat. One is brown and crunchy and one is white and soft (the more complicated to make calling for egg white). This recipe is for the brown crunchy type and is neither good nor bad. It is just a recipe.

This is a really BAD recipe. Tried it, wasted a bid load of almonds, and unfortunately did my research after. Most Nougat recipes I have found have far more ingredients and are not nearly as simple as this recipe.
