How to make Nan’s Melting Moments:
These are delicious individual cakes which everyone seems to have their own recipe for.


1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup caster/superfine sugar
1 medium egg
1 cup self raising flour
a pinch of salt
2 tablespoons rolled oats
12 glace cherries
(see measure conversions for more information)


- Beat the butter until soft and creamy.
- Add the sugar and continue beating until light in color.
- Beat the egg into the mixture with a spoonful of flour.
- Fold in the remaining flour.
- Divide the mixture into 24.
- Roll each cake in the oats.
- Bake on a well greased tray for 20 minutes at 180 degrees Centigrade (see temperature conversions).
- Allow to cool and harden a little on the tray before transferring to cool on a wire rack.
