2 1/4 cups flour
4 tablespoons walnuts
1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
2 level teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
6 tablespoons brown sugar
6 tablespoons raisins
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 small can of tomato soup

- Cream the butter and sugar together and add the bicarbonate of soda.
- Add the soup gradually.
- Mix together the baking powder, salt, spices and flour and add to the butter and sugar mix, stirring lightly.
- Stir in the raisins and walnuts.
- Put the mixture into a greased 7-inch cake tin and bake in a slow oven for 1 3/4 hours – 2 hours on a low shelf in the oven.
