2 young turnips
12 tiny silver onions
1 round lettuce
sprig of tarragon
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 pints vegetable stock

- Shred the lettuce and chop the tarragon.
- Put all into a saucepan with the sugar and the stock, and simmer slowly till the vegetables are tender.

How to make jardinière soup:
A fresh and delicate vegetable soup. Elegant enough for a summer luncheon party.
Ingredients
2 young carrots2 young turnips
12 tiny silver onions
1 round lettuce
sprig of tarragon
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 pints vegetable stock

Method
- Scrape the carrots, peel the onions and turnips, and cut all the vegetables into cubes or fancy shapes, leaving the little onions whole.- Shred the lettuce and chop the tarragon.
- Put all into a saucepan with the sugar and the stock, and simmer slowly till the vegetables are tender.
