5 tablespoons (5oz) golden syrup
6 tablespoons (6oz) honey
1/2 cup (4oz) walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup (4oz) dates, stoned and chopped
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Add the syrup and honey, bring to the boil and boil to 137oC/270oF or until a soft drop in cold water forms a soft ball between the fingers.
- Remove from the heat, stir in the walnuts and dates and beat until opaque.
- Pour into a greased and lined shallow 8 inch by 5 inch tin and leave to cool.
- When almost set, cut through into squares.
- Store in waxed paper.
