1 mug full of sultanas (or any dried fruit for a change!)
1 large organic, free range egg
caster/superfine sugar (or brown sugar if preferred)
organic butter, softened for spreading
approx. 1/2 pint organic milk
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Place bread buttered side up in a greased, oven-proof dish, layering the bread with dried fruit and a sprinkle of sugar.
- Aim to get most of the fruit into the inner layers of the pudding.
- Sprinkle some sugar onto the top of the last layer.
- Beat egg into milk and pour this mixture over the bread.
- With clean hands press bread down firmly to make sure that it absorbs the liquid.
- Let it stand for half an hour and then bake at 190 degrees centigrade (see temperature conversions) until risen and golden brown on top.

8-10 slices organic bread (white or wholemeal)1 mug full of sultanas (or any dried fruit for a change!)

Method
- Butter the slices of bread (remove crusts if preferred).- Place bread buttered side up in a greased, oven-proof dish, layering the bread with dried fruit and a sprinkle of sugar.
- Aim to get most of the fruit into the inner layers of the pudding.
- Sprinkle some sugar onto the top of the last layer.
- Beat egg into milk and pour this mixture over the bread.
