How to make chocolate nut cake:
The popular combination of nuts and chocolate make this cake a real favourite.


8oz self raising flour
4oz caster/superfine sugar
6oz butter
2oz cocoa
2oz almonds
2 eggs
1/4 pint milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
(see measure conversions for more information)


- Mix the cocoa and vanilla with the milk.
- Cream the butter until very soft.
- Add the sugar and the eggs gradually, and beat until smooth.
- Beat in the flour and the almonds.
- Add the milk and mix to a smooth batter.
- Spoon into a well-greased cake tin and bake for about 1 -1 1/2 hours at 180 degrees Celsius.
- When cooked the top of the cake should be firm to the touch.
