How to make cherry and almond cakes:
Small sponge cakes with cherries and almonds.


4oz butter
4oz sugar
1oz almonds, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
4oz flour
2oz cornflour
1 1/2 oz cherries, finely chopped
2 eggs
(see measure conversions for more information)


- Cream sugar and butter together.
- Add beaten eggs slowly and then beat well.
- Sift in the flour, cornflour and baking powder and mix well.
- Add the cherries and almonds.
- Half fill bun tins which have been well greased.
- Bake in a moderate oven 180oC/350oF/gas mark 4 for about 20 to 30 minutes.
