How to make cheese savory:
This is really a savory bread and butter pudding. It is simple, nutritious and inexpensive. You can alter the recipe by using wholemeal bread and low fat milk and cheese.


10 slices of bread
spread with butter
2 cups of grated cheese
3 eggs
1 pint milk
pepper and salt
(see measure conversions for more information)


- Grease an oven proof dish.
- Arrange buttered bread in alternate layers with grated cheese, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper.
- Beat the eggs and add them to the milk.
- Pour the mixture over the buttered bread.
- Allow to stand for 1 hour and make sure that the bread has absorbed all the liquid.
- Bake for 45 minutes at 180 degrees centigrade (see temperature conversions).
