How to make caramel pecan brownies:
The combination of the caramel toffee and the pecan nuts make this recipe irresistible.



Ingredients

3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs beaten
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup melted caramel toffees
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Method

- Slowly add the sugar to the beaten eggs.
- Beat until light and fluffy.
- Mix butter and caramel together.
- Combine egg and sugar mix with caramel and butter mix.
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
- Add flour mix to butter, egg, caramel etc.
- Add vanilla and pecans.
- Bake in a well greased 9" square tin at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (see temperature conversions) for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool.
- Cut into squares.

I wonder just how much land it would take to feed a family of, say, 4? I know that if my family didn't buy fruit and veg we wouldn't have enough to eat but is self sufficiency down to amount of land or method of growing? Last year I overcrowded my small veg plot with counter-productive results like mildew and snail infestation that went unnoticed until we came to pick the tomatoes (all holes!). I wonder if anyone has ever been totally self providing or whether the local market and barter played...
