1/4 cup salad oil
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 egg
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Beat the egg into the sugar and oil.
- Add the nuts and vanilla to the mixture.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder.
- Fold the flour into the main mixture.
- Pour into a well greased tin.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (see temperature conversions) for 35 minutes.

Salad oil just means any edible oil you might use in a salad. I think that the idea is to use an oil that isn't highly flavoured.
