vanilla essence
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 tablespoon butter
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Boil for 20 minutes.
- Remove from the heat.
- Add the vanilla essence and pour into a greased tin.
- Allow to cool.
- Cut into divisions when semi-set.

How to make butterscotch:

Ingredients
just over half cup brown sugar1/2 pint water
vanilla essence
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 tablespoon butter

Method
- Put all the ingredients except the vanilla essence into a heavy pan.- Boil for 20 minutes.
- Remove from the heat.
- Add the vanilla essence and pour into a greased tin.
- Allow to cool.
- Cut into divisions when semi-set.
