2oz cake crumbs
3oz sugar
4oz butter
1 egg yolk
little water if necessary
1/2 pint water
apples, peeled, cored and sliced
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Add egg yolk.
- Work in the cake crumbs and flour and add a little water if necessary.
- Roll the dough into an oblong.
- Boil sugar and water for 3 minutes until it forms a syrup.
- Put the slices of apples into the hot syrup and remove saucepan from heat.
- Remove the apples from syrup.
- When cool enough, place the apple slices onto the dough, each slice overlapping the other.
- Boil the syrup till thick, place a little on top of apple slices.
- Bake in a hot oven 435oF/220oC/gas mark 7 for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- When cold cut into slices.

How to make apple bars:
A really yummy apple treat!

Method
- Cream the fat and sugar together.- Add egg yolk.
- Work in the cake crumbs and flour and add a little water if necessary.
- Roll the dough into an oblong.
- Boil sugar and water for 3 minutes until it forms a syrup.

- Remove the apples from syrup.

- When cold cut into slices.
