Minted Courgette and Egg Salad
FEBRUARY 2010 RECIPES MENU
We've gone spicy and exotic with our main meal for February's menu with a Dry Lamb Curry. The lamb chunks are tenderized in a the spicy marinade and then fried to perfection in olive oil. This curry follows our starter of finely sliced courgettes spiced up with harissa paste and served with hard boiled eggs. For dessert may we suggest Choccy Rocky Cake, a delicious confection just right for Valentine's Day.

Ginger Sponge
This NAAFI ginger cake was baked in what were called lunch tins and an individual portion cost 1d to make. The original recipe calls for 3/4 pint of mixed milk and water but this makes an extremely loose batter which can not have been the intention since the cake should be brushed with beaten egg and decorated with split, blanched almonds if liked. Eating affordably and ethically


In a post I just made in the Christmas dinner thread I referred to ethics and thought I should expand on that a bit.

Being an advocate of the free-market, I don't agree with government intervention in matters of food except for the most extreme cases. Many argue that battery farming is an issue for the Food Standards Agency. I don't agree. Many people can only afford to eat chicken because it has been battery farmed.
