Barrier Cream

Use this on your hands before tackling any really dirty job.


1 dessertspoonful of Fuller's Earth
1 egg yolk
almond oil to mix to a paste.


- Mix all the ingredients together.
- Apply to the hands.
- Wear gloves over the cream when doing a dirty job.
- Rinse off after completing job.

Potato Hand Mask

Not the most glamorous of ingredients this mask if cleansing, soothing and smoothing.


1 dessertspoonful of almond oil
1 dessertspoonful of glycerine
1 medium potato peeled, cooked, mashed and cooled.
orangeflower water to mix to a paste


- Mix the potato with the almond oil and glycerine.
- Add orangeflower water to make a paste.
- Leave on the hands for 30 minutes.
- Rinse off.

Nourishing Night Time Hand Soother

A highly nourishing, easy to make handcream.


2 teaspoons ground almonds
2 egg yolks
4 teaspoons almond oil
2 teaspoons rosewater


- Mix the almonds into the egg yolks.
- Add the oil slowly.
- Add the rosewater slowly.
- Add more rosewater if the paste is too stiff.
- Wear under cotton gloves all night.
- Rinse off.

Super Hand Cream

A very oily cream but worth trying if your hands are dry and cracked.


3 tablespoons of lanolin
1 tablespoon of sesame oil


- Put the ingredients into a bowl over a saucepan of hot water.
- Blend ingredients together.
- Cool.
- Rub well into hands.

Honey hand Cream

A luxurious daily cream to keep your hands soft and supple.

4 tablespoons of lanolin
2 tablespoons of honey
Almond oil to mix

Put the lanolin and honey into a bowl over a pan of hot water (or use a double boiler).


- Mix well.
- Remove from the heat.
- Cool a little.
- Beat in the almond oil until you have a smooth cream.
- Keep in the fridge for up to 1 week.
- Apply to hands daily.
