Although all the ingredients in these beauty recipes are natural, remember that it is still possible to be allergic to anything applied to the skin. DO NOT USE ANYTHING NUT BASED ON YOUR SKIN IF YOU HAVE A NUT ALLERGY. To test other ingredients make up a very small amount of the recipe you intend to use. Wash and gently dry a small patch of skin inside your elbow. Apply a little of the mix to the skin and leave for 48 hours. If you experience any redness or swelling DO NOT USE THE BEAUTY RECIPE AT ALL.

We strongly recommend that you do your own research before using any of the ingredients in these recipes since some ingredients should be avoided by certain groups of people. Always check with a qualified health advisor if in doubt.

You can keep your house clean and freshly scented without the use of harmful aerosol sprays and harsh chemicals. Essential oils, dried herbs and everyday items like vinegar have been used to help with household tasks for many centuries. If you use natural products where possible you will be lessening the potential damage to your health and that of the planet as a whole.

Anti-moth Mix


1 cup dried rosemary
1 cup dried tansy
1 cup dried thyme
1 cup dried mint
1 cup dried southernwood
1/2 cup ground cloves


- Chop all the herbs very finely.
- Add the ground cloves.
- Put into sachets and put in draws and wardrobes etc. to repel moths.

Rosemary Mix for Sachets


1 cup dried rosemary leaves
1 cup dried lemon verbena leaves
1/2 cup dried lavender flowers


- Mix all the ingredients together and use to fill sachets.
- Put in draws or wardrobes or under your pillow at night as this mixture is said to induce restful sleep.

Pot Pourri Refresh Mix


2 drops geranium essential oil
2 drops rosemary essential oil
2 drops lemon essential oil
pot pourri


- Put your pot pourri in a nice bowl.
- Use the above mixture to scent and/or refresh your pot-pourri.
- The aroma of these essential oils is reputed to clear your head and sharpen your senses.
