Herbs, Seasonings, Seeds and Spices - Buy Chive Rings from Mountain Rose Herbs ($US).
Just wondering if you could answer a question for me - how many seeds do I need to put into a (6") pot in order to get a full bunch of chives? According to the directions on the chives package, it shows only one seed in a pot. I did this, and up came one sole chive leaf.
Your sole chive is all that a single seed will produce - in the short term at least. Sow quite thickly in the pot for a full bunch, and then when the plants are established next year divide the bunch and pot on to create more bunches with more space. Chives will multiply by themselves of course, but you may as well start with as many plants as you want to propagate.
