Hi Fluff, yes and yes. they like stony or rocky places and not too wet. They creep all over and it is easy to break off cuttings. They don't like wet and frost though...go all mushy because like succulents they hold a lot of water. I was surprised how many different kinds there are. ScotG

Sorry you two have been ill Tanya. there was a spate of stomach bugs here a year or so ago, mind you i did lose some weight!! not the nicest way. You certainly wouldn't have felt like cooking i'm certain! Hope you both feel better and that your other daughter doesn't get it.

About planting new over old grass???

what do you want to grow under the trees? Don't forget that when you create a new bed you make more weeding for yourself. Some plants will grow quite happily in the grass under trees ie daffs, snowdrops, bluebells and by the same token you won't get some plants to grow at all in the shade under a tree.

compared to what you read in the press they aren't bad kids i suppose but they are strange. they only speak when they want something like their ball back and they constantly chuck food into our garden. So far this week one half-eaten banana in skin,one chop bone (chucked onto flat roof) and a pile of sweet papers!Weird!!

Yes very good wheeze on the part of Waitrose. It looks like Vaseline to me. There's a picture of it in the Sunday Times. Some of those Vaseline type things are terrible if you get them in your eye!!
