Scifers are something like a small shallot. The tops only are used.
marigold petals
scifers (substitute chives if unavailable)
butter
pepper and salt
(see measure conversions for more information)
- Put them into a basin with a few marigold petals, some scifers chopped small, a lump of butter and pepper and salt to taste.
- Pour boiling water over and eat as hot as possible.

How to make Kiddley broth:
This would have been a traditional and very economical supper dish. It was also a very good way of using up any stale bread (although the bread does not have to be stale for this recipe) and thus nothing went to waste. - Cut some bread into squares.- Put them into a basin with a few marigold petals, some scifers chopped small, a lump of butter and pepper and salt to taste.
- Pour boiling water over and eat as hot as possible.
