- Cut out two rounds, one large enough to line a pie dish and one to make a lid.
- Sprinkle some breadcrumbs onto the pastry-lined pie dish.
- Pour on the golden syrup (do not fill too full).
- Sprinkle some grated lemon rind onto the treacle.
- Moisten the pastry edges with some water.
- Press the lid on.
- Bake in a moderate oven for 40 minutes.

yes you can! It is exactly what my grandmother used to do. She also used to use dessicated coconut in her treacle tarts.
