How to make Cornish pie cake:
This old recipe is not really for a cake at all but for a savory meat pie. Very simple to make and well worth trying.


pastry made with half suet and half lard
fresh meat, cut into small chinks
new potatoes
salt and pepper

- Roll the pastry into two rounds, one larger than the other.
- Put the meat and the peeled and chopped vegetables onto the larger round.
- Add salt and pepper.
- Place the smaller round on top.
- Pinch the edges of the top and bottom pieces together.
- Make a slit in the top of the pie.
- Bake in a moderate oven (see temperature conversions).
