20 cups flour
6 cups sugar
14 cups currants
peel 2 oranges
1 pint of canary (type of wine)
1/2 pint rosewater
43 eggs (using the white of only half of these eggs)
1 cup citron
(note: there was also reference to an ingredient which was referred to as "perfume". This doesn't appear to have a modern equivalent)

- Add the eggs and the flour, beating well.
- Stir in the currants.
- Stir in all the other ingredients.
- Bake in a slow oven until cooked.

How to make Cornish Great Cake:
This is a recipe dating back to 1763. The word great is used with reference not only to the size of the cake but to its expense and importance. It would have been made for a lavish celebration.
Ingredients
10 cups butter, creamed20 cups flour
6 cups sugar

- Mix the sugar with the creamed butter.- Add the eggs and the flour, beating well.
- Stir in the currants.
