How to make dumplings:
Dumplings are a traditional addition to stews and casseroles. They are usually savoury and can be made extra tasty by adding herbs and flavourings. Sometimes they can be eaten as a dessert with treacle or jam. In England they are added to a stew or casserole for the last half hour of cooking.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups (6oz) self-raising flour3/8 cup (3oz) suet
cold water to mix

Method
- Mix all ingredients together to form a stiff dough- Form into as many dumplings as required.
- Put into the stew or casserole for the last half an hour of cooking.
